TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - An accident involving a train and a bus happened in an unguarded train crossing in Bekasi, West Java. The bus, owned by Otobus Haryanto bus company, was hit by the Manoreh train on an unguarded train crossing in Wanasari village, Cibitung district, Bekasi regency, earlier this morning.
Head of Traffic Division of Bekasi Police, Commissioner Ojo Ruslani, said the 35 passengers were reported to have suffered from minor injuries.
"The victims have been taken to Bekasi Regency regional hospital," Ojo told Tempo.
Ojo mentioned that the incident began when the bus - in which most of the passengers are children - went on the crossing at around 8.50 a.m. The residents who guarded the crossing had already laid the made-of-bamboo crossing bar, but the bus kept on moving.
Fortunately, only the rear part of the bus hit by the train. No fatality caused in the accident. "However, the passengers are traumatized and children are hysterical," said Ojo.
"We're still investigating the incident," said the traffic divison head.
