TEMPO.CO, Palembang - Indonesian coal mining company Bukit Asam is feels confident that it can increase the volume of coal sales up to 24.7 million tons this year. "We believed that we can achieve it thanks to the support from every line," said Milawarma, Director of Bukit Asam, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

The company's optimism stems from the increasing demand of coals as a result of growing business partners in the global and domestic markets. The company seeks to fulfill industry demands in countries such as Taiwan, Japan, China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Korea.

Bukit Asam secretary Joko Pramono said that Korea is one of the high-potential market that will be optimized. He believed that the target of 24.7 million tons can be achieved by optimizing supplies to state-owned train company Kereta Api Indonesia.

For the domestic market, Bukit Asam targets 11.2 million tons of coal sales this year, higher compared to last year's 8.2 million tons. The increasing target is considered to be in line with the increasing demands for steam-fueled power plant owned by state-owned electricity company PLN on Java island.
