TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ukraine's parliament decided on February 24 to send former President Yanukovich to the International Criminal Court for ordering police to commit violent acts against protesters, resulting in more than 100 deaths.
Reuters reported on Monday that Yanukovych will be charged for "mass murder" and is now on the wanted list.
The Hague-based court stated that Yanukovhich's trial can be held, provided the Ukraine's government gives it jurisdiction.
Ukraine's parliament also expected that former Home Affairs minister Vitaly Zakharchenko and former prosecutor-general, who are also being sought by the authorities, should also be sent for trial in Den Hague.
Yanukovych was suspected to flee on a helicopter from Kiev to Crimea, an area where his supporters are based, as he is not allowed to leave Ukraine.
