TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo a.k.a. Jokowi stated that the area that will be the land for Taiwan-based gadget manufacturers Foxconn Technology Group's factory development is an industrial area. The Jakarta Provincial Government will provide a 200-hectare land.
"It is a land for industrial area," Jokowi said at the City Hall on Wednesday. According to Jokowi, the area is feasible for building factories. Jokowi explained that the industrial area can also be used for employee housing and green space. He went on to say there will also be a beach reclamation development in that area.
Previously, Foxconn Director Terry Gou met Jokowi to invest Rp12 trillion in Jakarta. On Friday, February 7, 2014, both sides had signed Letter of Intend. Jokowi said that the Jakarta Provincial Government had allocated a 200-hectare land in Marunda, North Jakarta to build the factory.
