PLN: More Coal Please

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- State-owned electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) announced that it will need an extra 34.8 percent of coal supplies to keep its power plants running this year.
"With the increase, the [total amount] of coal burned in PLN's power plants this year will be 72.3 million tons," said Helmi Najamudin, Head of the Coal Divison at PLN.
Helmi said that the increased supply is needed to operate PLN's new power plants that will begin its operation activities as part of Phase 1 of the Fast Track program. Several power plants that have already begun operation include the Tanjung Awar-awar steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) Unit 1 and 2, Pelabuhan Ratu PLTU Unit 2 and 3, Teluk Sirih PLTU, and Aceh PLTU.
