TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mount Kelud's eruption will threaten at least 10,000 lives, namely the residents of Sugihwaras, Babadan, and Sempu Village. The three villages, located at Ngancar District, are the closest to Kelud's crater.
Ngancar Head of Subdistrict Ngaseri stated that Kelud eruption is likely to hit those three villages. There are over 4,000 residents in Babadan, 3,000 residents in Sempu, and 3,000 residents in Sugihwaras. "We have notified the residents on this matter," he said.
Ngaseri ensured that the residents have been trained to evacuate at times of eruption, as last year they joined evacuation simulation by local government. He explained that if eruption does occur, they are to evacuate to village hall.
