Merpati Pledges to Refund Canceled Tickets

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines has affirmed its commitment to refund canceled tickets. Merpati spokesman Riwanto CP said the company’s restructuring process causes a reduction in routes.
"Merpati will take responsibility in handling passengers by transferring to another airline or offering passengers to refund tickets in 30 days from the cancelation date," he said in a written statement yesterday.
Riwanto said the company apologized for any inconvenience in service and hoped this condition will return to normal soon and Merpati could return to serving the passengers.
The airline is currently undergoing restructuring and revitalization process which incudes Joint Operation (KSO), spin off, divestment, conversion of debt to share, establishing a subsidiary, and route restructuring. "It is not true that Merpati stops operations. Merpati will keep running its activities," said the spokesman.
Merpati has been cancelling the flights from departure point of El Tari Airport in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, to several airports in Indonesia since Tuesday. The flights have been temporarily closed due to low season.
