TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini is set to report the muddled animal management in Surabaya Zoo (KBS) to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) tomorrow. "Coincidentally, I have been invited by Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan. I will report the zoo case to the KPK, this coming Monday," she said in Surabaya, yesterday.

Risma said that her staff had prepared the required data pertaining to the report. The matters that she was going to report to the anti-graft agency were especially linked to the zoo’s management, and Universitas Airlangga Surabaya’s audit results in regard to assets that the zoo owned.

Last weekend, Risma criticized the disappearance of animals from the zoo. She accused the zoo’s temporary management team that was led by Tony Sumampau, who had bartered 387 animals with money or goods, which had heat up the conflict in the zoo that was the heritage from the Dutch. She has promised to take legal action against the zoo.

The zoo’s financial director, Fuad Hasan, said his office was currently preparing for the documents, such as the barters’ Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). "There are six MoUs of animal exchanges when the zoo was managed by the Temporary Management Team," he said to Tempo.

In fact, Fuad said, based on Universitas Airlangga’s review, the exchange could only be carried out between animals or plants. They have clearly violated the regulation by exchanging the animals for vehicles or money.
