Suzuki Launches New Ertiga Variants

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Suzuki will be launching two new variants of their best selling car, Ertiga, this year. The plan is that the two new variants will be released in February and another variant in development will shortly follow.

"It's all here and it is ready to launch," said Product Development Section Head of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales, Doni Ismi Saputro in the midst of an Ertiga family party in Surakarta, Saturday, January 11, 2014.

Doni is optimistic that the two new variants will help Suzuki to knock the Daihatsu Xenia off the number 2 spot  just under the Toyota Avanza in the Low MPV Class. The Suzuki Ertiga has its own share of the market, 16 percent, with a production of 65 thousand units in 2013 which places it in the third spot.

Other factors that has helped Ertiga to push the Xenia off the number 2 spot is that 2014 is an election year, in which all industries will halt production while waiting to see who wins the election.

"Although sales will remain stagnant, but Ertiga sales will remain stable making the market share rise," he said.
