TEMPO.CO, Surabaya – Secretary of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) of East Java Kusnadi, stated that both Megawati Soekarno Putri and Joko Widodo are the ideal figures as the presidential candidate.
Related to survey results on presidential candidates that placed Jokowi at the top of the list, Kusnadi admitted that he is proud of Jokowi.
However, regarding the idea to promote Jokowi as Megawati's vice president candidate, Kusnadi considered the issue as a political calculation. He asserted that the most important thing is how to utilize public support for Megawati and Jokowi to achieve victory in the Election.
Kusnadi added that Megawati has a large number of supporters since she could gain eight million votes in the presidential election five years ago.
"However, in legislative election, PDIP could only gain three million votes," he said.
It means, as Kusnadi explained, the number of votes gained by a figure is not correlated with the number of votes in legislative election.
