Jokowi-Mega Relation has Its Purpose, PDI-P Politician Says

TEMPO.CO, Semarang – Aria Bima, a politician fron the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), stated that presidential candidacy issues will not make Megawati Soekarno Putri and Joko Widodo compete each other during the election. According to Aria, Jokowi, as a cadre of PDI-P, is being prepared by Megawati to solve problems faced by Indonesia.
"It’s illogical putting Mega and Jokowi in a head-to-head fight," said Aria to Tempo in Semarang.
Aria explained that there are no such things as pro-Mega or pro-Jokowi because the party's presidential candidate has been decided in the National Working Meeting (Rakernas). The meeting confirmed that Megawati holds the authority to decide who will run for president.
However, Aria admitted that recent close relation between Mega and Jokowi has a purpose. He believed that Mega wants Jokowi to learn about Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke.
He also informed that Mega has prepared a number of young people to be leaders. He added that the important thing is PDI-P is not only preparing presidential candidates, but also people who are able to solve problems faced by the country.
