TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The Tangerang-Merak toll road operator, PT Marga Mandalasakti (MMS), has allocated Rp400 billion to the development of a highway on the toll route connecting Jakarta and Banten. MMS will construct a two-kilometer highway, from Km 57 to Km 59 in Serang, Banten, which is often disconnected because of floods.
PT Marga Mandalasakti President Director Wiwiek D. Santoso said the highway will be constructed next to the toll road, in both directions between Jakarta and Tangerang. According to her, MMS aims to complete the project by 2015. “Part of the funds came from us (MMS), and the rest are bank loans,” she said.
The organization’s Operations Division Chief, Ega N. Boga, said that the project is currently in the stages of Detail Engineering Design (DED) and feasibility study. Frequent floods in Banten and its surrounding areas affect the access to the Tangerang-Merak toll road. “The project is one of the programs to improve services, comfort and security on the toll road,” he said.
