TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta – The move 'Denok dan Gareng' by director Dwi Sujanti Nugraheni won two awards on Saturday, December 7, at the Jogja-NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Asian Film Festival, or simply the JAFF 2013.
'Denok dan Gareng' received the Silver Hanoman Award, which is an award presented for the second best Asian film in the category of Asian Features.
The movie also managed to win the NETPAC Award, an award handed out as an appreciation for Asian directors that contribute to Asia's new cinematic movement.
The 89 minute documentary highlighted a young Muslim couple named Denok and Gareng who began a small pig business in their simple home.
JAFF director Budi Irawanto said most of the films played during the festival will also be included in the Berlin International Festival, Busan International Festival, and Tokyo International Festival. The films in this festival have birthed new ideas and successfully promoted Asian cinema.
