TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar has urged companies not to discriminate against people who suffer from HIV/ AIDS in terms of health services provided for them.
"All laborers, employees, including those who suffer from HIV/ AIDS, have the right to affordable health services, insurance, and social protection," said Muhaimin yesterday.
He said the government has clearly regulated health services for workers with HIV/ AIDS through the manpower minister’s decree on the manpower social insurance program. The regulation states that workers who suffer from HIV/ AIDS are to receive up to Rp20 million per year for their medical services, paid for by state-owned insurance firm Jamsostek.
The Health Ministry projects up to 13.8 million people were prone to HIV in 2012.
