Angkasa Pura Prepares Rp 6.8 B for Halim Airport

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport management company Angkasa Pura II, has prepared Rp 6.8 billion (around US$579,957) for the renovation of Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport terminal in preparation to accommodate commercial flights starting in January 2014.
"Renovation has started since October and expected to be finished in the third week of next month [December 2013]," Angkasa Pura II Director Tri Sunoko told Tempo on Friday, November 22.
Based on the terminal revitalization work plan, Angkasa Pura II will construct new ticket counters, parking areas, and expands the airport's waiting room. With the expansion, the airport is expected to be able to accommodate three flights or 600 passengers in an hour.
Halim airport was previously used for military flights. This airport only has one runway without parallel departure lanes. In addition, the airport also serve private and VIP flights. The airport only operates for 16 hours in one day and can only accommodate 14 Boeing 737-400 planes on its apron.
