TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government stated that Lion air's new airplane the Bombardier CS300, will not land on an airport with high traffic such as the Soekarno-Hatta Airport. According to the Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang Ewan, the airplane will be directed to land on regions that have a specific airport type.
"Such as in East Indonesia," he told Tempo on Thursday, November 7.
Bambang said that the Transportation Ministry will provide an assessment on the airplane's technical operation, routes, and airport capacity where the plane may land. However, he claimed that he has not received any information regarding the plane's operational plan from Lion Air.
Lion Air President Director Rusdi Kirana, explained that the airline decided to buy Bombardier planes because it possesses several technical and economic advantages. The operating income of this plane is equal to the bigger Airbus A320neo and therefore, the CS300 is capable of reaching certain regions.
"For example in small cities in China which are far away," Rusdi said.
