TEMPO.CO, Kupang - Archbishops in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), have established a new pilgrimage destination in Oebelo village, Kupang district named Ziarah Yesus Maria (Jesus Maria Pilgrimage).
"With this new pilgrimage destination, NTT now also has a location that can be used for religious retreats," said Archbishop Petrus Turang on Sunday.
The land used for this destination was donated by a member of the congregation named Yoseph Soleman to the archbishops of Kupang. As the location was deemed to have potential, the archbishops then decided to build a location for a religious retreat with help from philanthropists.
Construction first began on October 1, 2009 and includes 20 prayer locations and a chapel named St. Yohanes Paulus II. Construction is already around 93 percent complete and is planned to officially open on November 25 this year. It will be open to the public free of charge and can also be used as a tourist spot.
