TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To overcome Jakarta's numerous problems, including flood and traffic congestion, spatial planning expert Yayat Supriyatna assessed that the first thing that must be conducted by the Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is by reforming the bureaucracy in the Jakarta Administration itself. "The current problems are the accumulation of previous situations. On the other hand, the government must be able to solve those problems quickly," he stated on Saturday.
According to Supriyatna, the current programs of Jakarta Administration are still in the form of discourses, such as Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and monorail, because their concepts have been exiting for a long time ago, but the realizations are yet to be enjoyed by the people. "In the future, city spatial planning must be supported by competent and responsive people," he stressed.
If current bureaucracy goes on, Supriyatna furthered, everything will remain the same event though the governor wants quick action. "Therefore, the main thing to do now is bureaucracy reform. The way is by replacing urban village heads, community health center heads, and mayors, as well as improving the system in administration and healthcare services, and also transportation sector," he explained.
