TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian women's basketball team grabbed a gold medal in the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) competition in Palembang on Friday, September 20, 2013. The gold medal marks the first medal achieved by Indonesian national team in ISG.
"This medal is proof that Indonesia can compete in a world level competition," said Anthony Sunarjo, the Chairman of ISG III, on Saturday, September 21. Anthony wishes that the medal will inspire other Indonesian teams in other 12 sport branches to fight for more medals.
The Indonesian women basketball team defeated Egypt team 81-67 achieving perfect points by not losing in four consecutive matches; two against Qatar, and two matches against Egypt. Tri Adiloka, the coach, said that this was the maximum achievement during the preparation for Myanmar SEA Games. "It will motivates the team compete in the next SEA Games," she said.
