TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo refused to comment on rumors stating that he will run for vice president under the support of the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). The Governor wisely said that questions on such particular matter should be addressed to the Party's Central Council.
"As for politics, ask the Head of the Party," said Jokowi. "As about Jakarta, ask about Tanah Abang, Ria Rio [Reservoir], or Pluit to me. Then I shall answer," he added.
PDI-P was said to determine the criteria for presidential candidate in the national work meeting scheduled to be hedlfrom Friday, September 6, to Sunday, September 8. PDI-P Secretary General Tjahjo Kumolo said that the meeting will be attended by all party members from the House of Representatives and Provincial Administrators.
Tjahjo mentioned that the candidate must be able to make changes in politic, economy, and cultural sector. Djarot Saiful Hidajat, Chairman of PDI-P, added that one of the requirements is that the candidate must adopt Pancasila and Marhaenism as an ideology.
