TEMPO.CO, Tuban - Eight out of 20 ditstricts in Tuban regency, East Java, are experiencing severe drought, whcih likely to spread to other regions south of the regency. "We have reported the crisis to the [East Java] provincial administration," said Joko Ludiono, the Head of Tuban Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
Joko said that the East Java administration has provided assitance by establishing water reservoirs in the drought-affected areas. BPBD, along with East Java administration, is currently trying to figure out a solution to anticipate the drought, which estimated to reach its peak at mid-September to October.
Ironically, the drought-affected districts are yet to file official reports on water shortage and drought. Joko later urged the community to react quickly by reporting drought and water shortage.
