TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Salamudin said the bombing of Ekayana Buddhist Vihara in West Jakarta was irrelevant to the recent condition in Myanmar. "Political development and security condition in Myanmar have been conducive for a living," he said yesterday.
"The Rohingya’s right to live as Myanmar citizens have started to be recognized, and they are protected from people who wanted to commit violence against them," he said, "The United Nations had also involved in the case, and some regional organizations are helping to accelerate the process."
On a pan used as explosive instrument, the bomber wrote "We answered Rohingya’s cry". However, Boy doubted that the bomber was really driven by that motive. "Seeing Myamar’s condition today, I am wondering whether the motive is relevant. The question is are they really sympathetic to Rohingya?" Boy wondered, "The political condition there has been conducive for a living. I made this statement based on regional political aspect."
Earlier, Sunday, August 4, an explosion occurred in the Ekayana Vihara. The explosion came from a package. Another package located outside the Vihara gate did not explode. The explosion injured three.
