TEMPO.CO, Guangzhou - Indonesia is showing its supremacy in badminton's mixed double number. In the 2013 Badminton World Tournament, three of the country's mixed double pairs, Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili, Muhammad Rijal/Debby Susanto, and Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir pushed through to the third round.
Another pair, Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati, must accept the fact that they got eliminated in the first round, beaten by Hong Kong's Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah in a straight set, 18-21, 17-21. Team manager Rexy Mainaki, said that that the two lacked focus and fighting spirit.
Rexy also said that the three couples did well. However, he believed that it mostly was because they had ranked better than the opponents. Therefore, he said, the couples must gear up to face upcoming matches that are likely to be more difficult.
