TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Theft took place in yet another Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in Jakarta. This time, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) ATM located in an Indomaret convenience store on Jl. Kramat Pulo, Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta became the target.
Rudi, an Indomaret staff, said that the stolen money amounted to Rp170,000,000 in cash. "The thief broke the ceiling to enter the building," he said today, August 4.
The theft happened very early this morning at 01:00 and was caught on Indomaret’s surveillance camera located over the cashier counter. The thief wore a face cover.
Rudi said the thief had allegedly been aware of the condition of the ATM, which was empty on Thursday and was refilled on the following day.
The footage from the surveillance camera shows that the thief was carrying a welding machine and using an LPG gas sold at Indomaret to break the ATM.
The ATM machine was found broken with marks of welding found on the left and right part of the machine. The money deposit box was also broken by the welding machine.
