TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police affairs analyst Bambang Widodo Umar said the candidates for the National Police Chief post must have a clean track record, including free from the alleged ownership of fat accounts.
Out of the nine names of National Police chief candidates who will replace Gen. Timur Pradopo, two names were questioned: The Education Institution Director Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan and the National Police Operations Assistance Insp. Gen. Badrudin Haiti. Both have been mentioned in the suspicious findings by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) concerning the ownership of fat accounts.
Bambang said that Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan and Insp. Gen. Badrudin Haiti should not be included in the list of national police chief candidates. "Logically and ethically, there should be other candidates," said Bambang, contacted by Tempo yesterday, July 23.
