Police Continue Investigation on Forest Fire

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Riau police continue to investigate forest fire in Riau. The police had captured 18 civilian who executed the forest fire and still investigating on the involvement five companies.

"The police are still investigating the evidences on the scene together with the Environment Ministry investigators," said Head of Police Public Relation AKBP Hermansyah, when contacted by Tempo on Saturday June 29.

The police confirmed that some lands of the burning forests belong to those five companies, but they are yet to name the companies. There are 11 suspects in Rokan Hilir Regency, they are Hotman Purba, Katiman, Sukadi, Aswin, Rizal, Heriyadi Saputra, Eka Budi Arianto, Marlin Nasution, Mohammad Yasir, Johari and Abdul Wahab. Meanwhile, Sumardi and Ahokai Autlo become suspects for burning land in Pelalawan. "All of them are civilians, not companies," he said.

The development on the investigation to the captured suspects generates five more people on the wanted suspects list.
