TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Audrey Progastama Petriny, Air Asia Indonesia Communication Manager said "The policy (of closing Jakarta-Semarang route) was the company strategy to maximize the utilization of the planes."
She rejected an opinion saying that the route was not profitable. "Not really, we took this decision because there were changes in our strategy," she said, adding that the load factor for Jakarta-Semarang route reached 70 percent. However, the company decided to close Jakarta-Semarang route as Air Asia plans to add flight frequencies in other routes.
Air Asia Indonesia operates two flights for Jakarta-Semarang route, with flight numbers QZ 7564 and QZ 7568. The airline offers three options for passengers who have booked tickets for that particular route. The first is that passengers have to reschedule and fly before July 1. No administrative fee will be applied for the rescheduling. The second is to change their tickets to another destination, which is the same value, within 180 days. Lastly, passengers can cancel the reservation and get a refund.
This closing is effective July 1.
