TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Spokesperson Julian Aldrin Pasha stated that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will announce the new Minister of Finance today. "[The name] will be announced by Mr. President today," he said when Tempo contacted him in Jakarta on Monday, May 20.
However, Pasha refused to mention the name of Agus Martowardojo's successor. He also refused to confirm whether the Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Chatib Basri will be appointed as the new Minister of Finance. "It will be announced by the President today, we'll see," he said.
Previously, Basri was rumored to become one of the most probable candidate to fill the vacancy in addition to Drajad Wibowo, a National Mandate Party cadre, Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan, and CEO of Bank Rakyat Indonesia Sofyan Basir.
