New Finance Minister Expected to Boost Investments

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The new Finance Minister to be appointed by the president is expected to bring fresh outlook to Indonesia's investment climate. "The Finance Minister must be the driving force of future investments," said cement company Semen Indonesia CEO Dwi Sutjipto, met during a talkshow for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) at the Grand Sahid Hotel on Tuesday, May 14.
Dwi said investment distribution needs immediate reorganization in order to avoid investment being centralized in Java. "Therefore, we expect a significant tax regulation to boost investments outside Java," said Dwi.
Moreover, in the banking sector, the appointed Finance Minister is expected to continue to spur growth of banking performance. "To find ways to reduce interests and make investment more lucrative," said Dwi.
