TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned Prosperity and Justice Party (PKS) chairman, Muhammad Anis Matta, yesterday. The anticorruption commission’s investigators planned to question him as a witness for Ahmad Fathanah, a corruption suspect for the imported beef quota case at the Agriculture Ministry.

KPK spokesperson Johan Budi S.P. said Anis’ testimony would not be related to his official position as PKS’ chairman. Johan also refused to explain Anis’ relationship with Fathanah.

The KPK charged Fathanah with bribery and money laundering in the imported beef quota corruption case.

A KPK eyewitness revealed that investigators would ask Anis to explain the certificate of his wife’s, Anaway Irianti Mansyur, home; the Rp3 billion (around US$ 310,000) transferred from Fathanah to the PKS regional board of directors in South Sulawesi; and a number of cars owned by former PKS chairman, Lutfi Hasan Ishaaq, suspected to be given to him by Fathanah.

Anis denied the allegations stating that Fathanah transferred Rp3 billion (around $310,000) to the South Sulawesi PKS. However, he is prepared to meet with the KPK. Previously, Anis was also doubtful about the authenticity of the home ownership certificate belonging to his wife discovered in Fathanah’s bag.
