TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TEMPO.CO, Bandung – Graft convict Muhamad Nazaruddin was finally transferred from the Cipinang Penitentiary, East Jakarta, to the Sukamiskin Penitentiary, Bandung, a prison dedicated for corruptors. Nazaruddin was transferred on Wednesday, May 8.
"Yes, Nazarudin officialy stayed in Sukamiskin since last night at 22.00," said Sukamiskin Penitentiary Security Head, Teguh Wibowo, on Thursday, May 9.
However, Nazaruddin will not be placed in a permanent cell during his 'adaptation period'.
"As usual, new prisoners will be placed in a room in the north block temporarily," he explained.
Teguh stated that he does not have any information about the reason why Nazaruddin was transferred to Sukamiskin. "That is not my authority. Our job is only to accept new prisoner when our superiors say to," he said.
Nazaruddin is a former Democratic Party treasurer who was found guilty for accepting bribe in Wisma Atlet project. He is also believed to be involved in several other corruption cases, such as the solar power procurement in the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry, sport institution project in Hambalang, laboratory equipments procurement in some universities, and money laundering related to the purchase of PT Garuda Indonesia's initial public offering.
