TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, has refused to provide information on the government’s policy to control subsidized fuel consumptions. Hatta said that the government is still considering all options to match the people's buying power.
“Just wait for the result of our discussion. Do not speculate because we’re still trying to create a policy that has the least impact to the people. It concerns buying power,” said Hatta at the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) on Monday, April 29. Hatta added that the government is also looking for policies that can accommodate fiscal continuity and health.
Hatta’s remark was incongruent to his own promise that the subsidized fuel restrictions will be implemented by next month. The minister requested all parties to be patient and wait for the result of the discussion conducted by the government. “I also don’t want to talk about numbers now. I may be corrected,” said Hatta.
