TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nurhaida, chief executive of capital markets at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), said the development of the capital market have shown positive signs. This, she said, is evident from the average transaction value at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), which has reached Rp 6.17 trillion, year-to-date.
"The figure is based on statistical data as of March 26. The average daily transaction is higher than 2012's Rp 4.54 trillion," Nurhaida said during an exposure in the Indonesian Listed Companies Association discussion, Wednesday, March 27.
The daily transaction even reached a high value of Rp 20.55 trillion, transacting 15.91 million lots of shares on March 25. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) has also increased by 10.68 percent, year-to-date.
Despite the growth, Nurhaida still asks the IDX and issuers to remain alert and maintain a good performance in order to provide maximum benefits, especially regarding the heavy influx of foreign capital. One of the ways to do this, she said, is by encouraging the growth of public offerings, especially for new products, to avoid sudden reversals.
The OJK also suggests increasing the number of domestic investors to reduce dependency on foreign investors who are still quite dominant in the domestic market.
