Solar Electricity at US$25 Cents
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Finance Ministry, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry and the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy have agreed on a feed in tariff for electricity from solar power plants (PLTS).
The ministries agreed the solar electricity tariff would be set at a maximum of 25 US cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). The feed in tariffs will be applicable for 20 years, in compliance with the average age of solar power plants.
“The tariff is similar to our proposal; 25 cents is the maximum limit. If an auction can yield a lower figure, that lower figure will be used,” said New and Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation director general Rida Mulyana after a meeting at the Economy Ministry on Tuesday, March 5.
The feed in tariff, according to Rida, will gradually decline approaching contract expiration in the 20th year. “The decline rate will be based on the IRR [internal rate of return],” Rida explained.
