Police Collect Data of GTIS Victims
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The National Police is conducting data collection of fraud victims in the gold investment scandal involving Golden Traders Indonesia Syariah (GTIS).
“We’re collecting data from victims in various locations,” said police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar on Tuesday, March 5.
Boy encouraged anyone who has fallen victim to the investment scheme to report to the Criminal Detectives Division. Boy said the police are working together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to investigate the case. The coordination is expected to shed light upon the criminal elements in the GTIS case.
The investigation is hampered by the ‘disappearance’ of GTIS CEO Michael Ong and one of the company’s directors, Edward, since last week. The Malaysian citizens were reported to have gotten away with Rp10 trillion of their customers’ funds. GTIS is a gold investment company that promises a 2.5-percent return each month.
