12-Kg Canister LPG Price Hikes Cancelled
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The government has yet to recommend price hikes for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in 12-kg canisters. The Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa said the current situation does not allow the plan to be implemented because it will burden the public. “We’re not within the capacity to allow it; in my opinion as Economic Minister, the timing is bad,” said Hatta, met at his office on Wednesday, March 6. However, the decision for LPG price hikes is not in the hands of the government. “The government deals with the corporation, so, there is no need for the government’s permission; unless it involves public service obligations [such as subsidies],” said the minister.
