Court Grants Sex Change for 5 Year-old
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Cibinong Court in Bogor granted on Monday, Feb. 11, sex change plea for a five-year-old identified as ATP as requested by the child's parents.
One of the factors contributing to the court's ruling was an expert testimony by physician Jose Batubara of Gatot Subroto Army General Hospital. Medical examination of the child conducted at the hospital shows that the toddler's chromosomes are male dominant, leading to ATP to behave more like a boy than a girl.
ATP was born with female genitalia. As she grew up, however, the male genitalia was reported to “appear”.
ATP's parents declined to comment over the court's ruling.
