Joko Widodo Looks Set to Become Jakarta Governor
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Going by unofficial quick count results as of 5pm on Thursday, Solo Mayor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has beaten incumbent governor Fauzi Bowo in Thursday’s second round of elections. Independent polling agencies said on Thursday evening that Jokowi had netted over 53 percent of the votes, while the man he is pitted against, Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, has netted 46.23 percent of the votes. Fauzi on Thursday evening called a press briefing to state that even as they would wait for the official count results from the General Elections Commission, he wished to “extend congratulation” to Jokowi on the win. *****
