SBY Meets with Leaders at State Institutions
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Wednesday, August 15, 2012, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono held a meeting and a friendly get-together (silaturahim) with leaders of all top state institutions at the State Palace, Jakarta. It began at 1.30 pm and lasted about 1.5 hours. After the meeting, Yudhoyono explained that the meeting discussed the importance of affirming the spirit, determination, and commitment to continue to build Indonesia towards a better future. "Indonesia today is more peaceful, just, democratic, and prosperous based on the Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Unity in Diversity," he said. Yudhoyono says that all the leaders of the state institutions realize that building a nation is a process. In the process, there will be tests, challenges and trials. Still, he believes the trials and tribulations can be overcome provided all elements work together. "However difficult (the trials and tribulations are), we will realize the dream that we all share." More specifically, SBY explained the three topics discussed: general development issues in a broad sense, including regional development; law enforcement; and state finance accountability. "This meeting was extremely useful because we identified the problems in this country," Yudhoyono said. With regard to law, SBY emphasized that the leadership of all of the state institutions recognized the importance of upholding the law, "But make sure that the legal framework applicable in the country is also appropriate and correct." With regard to the third subject, the leaders asked that state money no longer be misappropriated. Attending the meeting were, among others, Chair of the People's Consultative Assembly Taufiq Kiemas, House Speaker Marzuki Alie, Chair of the Supreme Court Hatta Ali, Chair of the Constitutional Court Mahfud Md., Chair of the Regional Representatives Council Irman Gusman, Chair of the Judicial Commission Eman Suparman, and Chair of the Supreme Audit Hadi Poernomo. Also present were Military Commander Agus Suhartono, Chief of Police General Timur Pradopo, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksono, and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa.
