BRI Boots ATMs Money Supply by 150 Percent
TEMPO Interactive, Yogyakarta:Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta is increasing the supply of money by 150 percent during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday in 2012. Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are usually topped up once every three days but will be replenished daily during the holiday period. "Under normal conditions, each ATM transaction reaches Rp1 billion per week. During the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, it increases 3-fold," said the chief of BRI Cik Di Tiro Branch, Hendra Padmana, on Sunday. Every day, says Hendra, there are more than 500 withdrawals at ATM machines. During certain holidays such as the Eid Al-Fitr, there are up to 900 withdrawals. Therefore, BRI management tries to ensure the ATM machines with a capacity of Rp500 million will meet the increased holiday demand. "Transactions will return to normal one week after Lebaran," he said. During Eid Al-Fitr returning home trips, a number of BRI offices will remain open as usual, especially the cash offices at airports, stations and terminals. During the fasting season, opening hours will remain as normal. MUH SYAIFULLAH
