Djoko Susilo Banned from Travelling Abroad
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Police academy governor inspector general Djoko Susilo, has been banned from leaving the country in connection with an alleged graft scandal in 2011.
The case involves the procurement of two- and four-wheeled driving simulators for drivers' licenses, said Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chair Bambang Widjojanto, during a press conference at his office on Tuesday.
The KPK made the decision after last week’s case presentation determined that the requirements of the investigation had been met. "Since speed is necessary here, other related efforts are being arranged simultaneously, such as prevention," said Bambang.
As a follow-up to the presentation, the KPK conducted a search from Monday afternoon to Tuesday dawn at the Police headquarters traffic unit office in Cawang.
"In order to obtain as much necessary evidence as possible, it was decided a search would be conducted that very afternoon," he said.
Djoko Susilo was named a suspect on July 27. The KPK strongly suspects that Djoko, at the time head of the traffic unit, abused his authority and caused the state Rp180-billion in state losses.
"The country suffered losses in the tens of billions. We’re still counting the exact amount," said KPK spokesman Johan Budi. ISMA SAVITRI
