TEMPO Interactive, Subang:West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan promised to officially install Ojang Sohandi officially as a regent on Thursday. "I am ready to induct (Ojang)," Heryawan told Tempo, in the Pagaden District square, Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Ojang is currently only acting regent. Initially, the governor scheduled Ojang’s induction on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, to coincide with his visit to the Subang. However, the Consultative Body (Banmus) of Subang Regional House of Representatives rejected the date because they had not been invited to the discussion. "Banmus agreed to schedule the inauguration on August 9, 2012," said House Speaker Atin Supriyatin after chairing a Banmus meeting, Monday, August 30, 2012. The governor claimed he was not sulking in the face of such attitude by the Banmus. "Rather than not agreeing today, creating a problem, better delay the inauguration and face no problems," said Heryawan. According to him, he would be swearing in Ojang as the regent of the Subang regency on behalf of the president. "Not on my own behalf or the governor’s, but because the law commands it," he said. Responding to the particulars of his inauguration plans, Ojang gave a brief answer. "I’ve already told you, whatever the date of the inauguration, provided it’s in line with the law and the constitution, I am ready," said Ojang. Vice Chair of Subang House Agus Masykur Subang Regency said they were making preparations for Ojang’s inauguration. "Everything is being prepared in the secretariat of the council. But, about the cost of the inauguration, we’re not sure how much," said Agus. Ojang was installed care taker after the Interior Minister fired Eep Hidayat, the former regent who was proven to have embezzled the Land and Building tax of Rp16 billion. The Supreme Court sentenced Eep to five years in jail, and he was thrown into Sukamiskin prison, Bandung. Eep fought back by filing a judicial review (PK) which is now being tried. On June13, the Subang House declared Ojang definitive regent, later corroborated by the Minister's decision. NANANG SUTISNA
