Three Morning Star Flags Raised in Jayapura
TEMPO Interactive, Jayapura:Three Bintang Kejora flags, known as the Morning Star, were seen fluttering in Jayapura on Monday, July 2, around 5:45am local time.
The separatist Free Papua Movement (OPM) has stated that the flag was raised to celebrate their anniversary.
“It’s true, we have found three flags in three places,” said Papua Regional Police spokesperson Commr. Yohanes Nugroho Wicaksono, Monday morning. The size of the flag was 50 x 90 centimeters. They were located in Enggros hills, Tanah Hitam, and Tiba-Tiba Village. In Enggros, the flag was found on the highest tree in the area. It took an hour to drive the flag down. While at Tiba-Tiba Village, the flag was tied to a wood. And at Tanah Hitam, the flag was seen one kilometer away from the police post.
