Number of Foreign Tourists Increases by 8.45%
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded that the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in May reached 650,883 visitors, or 8.45 percent higher than the same month last year.
“Compared to April 2011, the number of international tourists has also increased by 3.96 percent,” said BPS director Suryamin when releasing the data at his office in Jakarta on Monday.
Suryamin said the number of tourists entering the country through 19 main gateways in May this year reached 564,557 visitors, or 8.89 percent higher compared to May 2011.
“Compared to April 2012, this is 4.26 percent higher,” said the director.
