Sidoarjo Police Arrest 37 Illegal Immigrants
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Sidoarjo precinct arrested 37 illegal immigrants from Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey on Wednesday. The immigrants—29 adult males, 4 women, and 4 children, 2 boys and girls—are being held at Sidoarjo police headquarters. “They told officers that they’re heading for Australia. They came from Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey,” said Jabon sector police chief Adj. Comr. Sunaryo. Sunaryo added that the arrest was made because a car rental owner, H. Maksum, a resident of Kedungpandan Village, suspected 20 immigrants who were interested in renting cars from Maksum. Maksum secretly made a call to the Jabon sector police. The sector police members followed up on the report and conducted an unscheduled operation, which pulled over the two rental cars transporting the immigrants. DINI MAWUNTYAS
