Nigerians Caught Smuggling Rp1.6 Billion Worth of Meth
TEMPO Interactive, Tangerang:Two Nigerian citizens have been arrested for smuggling 1,080-kilograms of methamphetamine worth Rp1.62 billion. USO, 28, was arrested based on intelligence from Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s Customs Tactical Unit (CTU). USO boarded a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Jakarta.
“Suspect USO was arrested on Tuesday at Terminal 2D of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport at around 4:30 p.m.,” said Oza Lavia, the airport’s customs and excise director, on Wednesday.
Oza added that after searching the suspect and his baggage, the officers found crystals of what appeared to be methamphetamine hidden in the suitcase handle and lower frames.
“The meth was hidden inside the [suitcase] handle and frames; one suitcase contained clothes, while the other contained miscellaneous stuff,” said Oza.
