Police Investigating Custom and Excise Official
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Jakarta Police is investigating the chief of North Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok Customs and Excise Office Kurnia Saktiono. Methamphetamines, up to 351 kilograms, were discovered in some packages of fish food at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta. “The investigation started at noon,” said Jakarta police spokesperson Rikwanto at his office on Tuesday, June 26. Sixteen witnesses have also been examined regarding the package. They were customs and quarantine officers, also eyewitnesses who saw the package leaving the port. “They probably missed one procedure,” said the Jakarta Police director for anti-narcotics affairs, Commission Nugroho Aji, at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Friday, June 22. Five people have been named suspects and one importer has been held. The package comes from China. Nurgroho said he would increase the security at the airports and ports to stop the same incidents. “We work together with the water police,” he said. AFRILIA SURYANIS
