Dual Railway Line Requires Rp 5.2 Trillion
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Transportation Ministry will propose for additional funding worth Rp 5.2 trillion, linked to the cross northern Java dual rail project in its 2013 draft workplan. “This budget will be discussed soon by the House of Representatives,” explained the head of the Transportation Ministry Communication Center, Bambang S. Ervan. The total ceiling that the Ministry will propose next year is Rp 8.847 trillion. This year the dual rail project which stretches for 723 kilometers from Jakarta to Surabaya has received a budget of Rp 4.6 trillion of the total Rp 9.8 trillion. Until now about 14.9 percent of the work has been completed, that is the 220 kilometer route from Jakarta to Cirebon. If the additional funds are agreed upon, Bambang is certain that the rest of the work can be completed by next year and operation can begin in 2014. ***
