Three Indonesian Workers Shot by Malaysian Police Identified
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Migrant Care executive director Anis Hidayah said the organization has identified the three Indonesian workers that were shot dead by Malaysian police. The three were: Sumardiono, 34, from Lumajang; Masudi, 28, from Bangkalan; and Hasbullah, 25, hometown unknown. Anis asked the government to scrutinize the Malaysian government’s statement on the shooting. The government should question whether the three workers were shot because they were trying to escape after robbing a house. “The government must be critical,” said Anis, contacted Thursday. Migrant Care records showed the shooting incident was not a one-off. In 2010, a similar case occurred. “[The workers] were accused of robbery and then they were shot dead,” said Anis. In addition, three workers from West Nusa Tenggara were also shot dead in late April because they allegedly resisted when officers caught them thieving. ANANDA BADUDU
