Marzuki Ready to Take Death Oath to Dispute Wa Ode
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:House of Representatives (DPR) speaker Marzuki Alie says that he is ready to do anything to prove that he did not receive money from the Regional Infrastructure Adjustment Funds (DPID) as alleged by Wa Ode Nurhayati. Marzuki said that he refused to start a debate and asked Wa Ode to prove her claims. “If there is an answer and it is hard to prove, I’m willing to vow in the name of Allah that I would receive misfortunes for the next seven generations. If necessary, I am willing to take a death,” said Marzuki in a press release on Tuesday. Marzuki said that he was willing to conduct such an oath in order to stop the country from being awash with false accusations. The country, according to Marzuki, needs to work because there are many citizens that need help. “Starting a debate based on false accusations like this is a waste of energy over something that is not true,” said the DPR speaker.
